Sunwest Jewelry~ Carico Lake Turquoise Squash Blossom Necklace

$3,900.00

A beautiful Carico Lake Turquoise Squash. The squash blossom has roots deep in Native American Indian culture and history. The principle part of the necklace is the crescent-shaped “Naja” pendant, which the Southwestern Indians first saw as iron ornaments on the horse bridles of the Spanish Conquistadors in the late 1500s and early 1600s. Captured or traded, these ornaments soon graced the necks of the local Native populace. The squash blossom necklace today stands as a fusion of cultures and has become an icon of Southwest American Indian jewelry. This necklace is a double strand rolled Navajo beaded necklace with the Naja measuring approx. 3 inches by 3 inches. Each bloom measures approx. 2 inches long. It features Lobster Claw Clasp.
