There are many types of leather boots. Each pair of boots may need the care
listed below and other treatments that are not listed. Boots can be made of
cowhide, goat, exotics, suede and many other types of leathers. Many of your
fashion boots have embroidery work, studs, embellishments or crystals as part of
the boot. Here is a general guideline as to how to care for their leathers.
Cleaning the boots is Number One in care for any type leather. Use a soft brush
or rag to clean exotics, polished cowhide or Oil impregnated leathers. A soft
nylon brush may be used for suede leathers.
FOR POLISHED COWHIDE- after thoroughly cleaning, use a boot and shoe leather
conditioner. Condition the entire boot. Then rub a neutral shoe cream on the
boots and wipe with soft cloth. A shoe polish may then be applied and buffed off
to increase the shine and luster
FOR SUEDE- Use a brush that will help clean and restore the nap. Then seal with
a spray on suede leather sealer.
FOR EXOTIC LEATHERS- After thoroughly cleaning, use exotic or reptile
conditioner and buff with soft cloth when the conditioner has dried
FOR OIL IMPREGNATED- After thoroughly cleaning, use an all-purpose
conditioner to replenish oils in the leather. The more oil you use and the more
often you use it, the darker the boot color will become.
